HD Day took place on 10th April to a great reception. Participants came from far and wide and from all the sectors that HD serves. The event was characterised by a positive atmosphere and was a platform for rewarding conversations between guests, experts and suppliers.
The programme featured a variety of informative presentations, along with demonstrations of the latest technological solutions.
Arni Rafn Gíslason, CEO of HD, presented the company as a service provider with powerful and specialised industrial and technical services, built on experience and knowledge.
Lýður Skúlason, Director of the Energy and Environmental Industries Division, emphasised HD's specialisation in serving the energy industry as a key factor in minimising downtime and thereby ensuring the operational security of energy facilities. He also pointed out that HD is the only company in Iceland with specialised facilities for repairing rotors for geothermal power plants.
Thorleifur Halldórsson, Workshop Manager for Ship Repairs, presented how HD serves domestic and international shipping companies with the maintenance and repair of key equipment, where expertise, a rapid response and good organisation are crucial. No matter how demanding the project or tight the deadline – the attitude within HD is clear:

Óttar Freyr Einarsson, a specialist in non-destructive testing, provided insight into the use of artificial intelligence and the benefits of preventive condition inspections – a technology that enhances operational reliability and enables companies to take action before failures occur.
Sunna Björk Helgadóttir, Managing Director of HS Orka's Technology Division, concluded by reporting on the good collaboration with HD on the expansion of the Reykjanes Power Station – a technically demanding project that required close cooperation and resourcefulness. She emphasised the importance of uptime in power plant operations, where an unexpected shutdown of a turbine can cost many millions of kroner per day.
