HD ehf. has received the 2026 Knowledge Recognition from the Association of Business and Economics (FVH) for an outstanding track record in the development of knowledge-driven industrial and technological services. The award is given to companies that are considered to have excelled in developing new revenue streams, a targeted growth strategy, and building a stronger operational foundation.
In the opinion of the judging panel, HD has been on an extremely strong and ambitious journey, achieving measurable success through the integration of operations, increased specialisation and a clear vision.
Over the last five years, HD has undergone a major transformation, with the company investing strategically in new services, specialised technical expertise, and the development of new service areas. This development has included, among other things, an increased focus on technology and analytics services, services for the energy and infrastructure sector, and specialised projects related to geothermal power plants.
This development has created new and more diverse revenue streams for the company, particularly outside its original core business. At the same time, its range of services has broadened, specialisation has increased, and the company has achieved a stronger position in new markets and in more complex projects.
HD has also built up specialised expertise in the field of geothermal power plants, rotor repairs and high-tech services, which has led to projects in overseas markets, including in Indonesia where the company supervised the repair of geothermal turbines for Star Energy.

In recent years, HD has placed a strong emphasis on operational integration, the development of specialised expertise, and investment in new technology and infrastructure. This journey has strengthened the company's position as a leading service provider in industrial and technical services and created new growth opportunities, including in high-tech services, analytics, and services for geothermal and energy infrastructure.
An award was presented by the President of Iceland at a ceremony organised by FVH on 19 May.
