HD and the software company Tero have joined forces to integrate condition monitoring and diagnostics with maintenance management. The aim is to detect anomalies early and ensure that information on equipment condition leads to the correct actions at the right time. The collaboration will be presented at IceFish 2026.
An unexpected failure of key equipment can, with little warning, halt hunting, processing or other important activities and result in significant costs. For many years, HD has undertaken a wide range of projects for the fishing industry and has built up specialist expertise in Condition monitoring and machinery diagnostics. When measurements indicate a deviation, HD specialists can analyse the cause, assess the urgency of a response, and follow the matter through to maintenance or repair.
From the first sign to a completed repair
The collaboration with Tero links HD condition analysis to maintenance management. ro has been developing maintenance software for more than three decades and is ViðhaldsStjórinn (The Maintenance Manager) the company's well-known solution. On that basis, Tero has developed Tero.Ops, a new generation of software for maintenance and operation.
„We want to be able to follow the customer all the way – from analysing the condition of the equipment and seeing where action is needed, through to planning, preparation and execution. With the collaboration with Tero, we can better connect these aspects and give customers a clearer view of their equipment and operations,“ says Valgeir Pétursson, Head of Technical Services at HD.
For example, consider a pump in a fish processing plant where measurements show a progressive deviation. HD specialists analyse the cause and, in Tero.Ops, the maintenance task is planned to cause as little disruption to operations as possible. If required, HD handles the execution.
Once the work is complete, the action is recorded in the equipment's history, and the information is then used for monitoring and maintenance decisions. This creates a continuous record from the first indication of a deviation to the completion of the repair. The aim is to make it easier for companies to respond earlier, plan maintenance more effectively, and reduce the risk of unexpected downtime.
