The company traces its roots back to Hamar ehf. (founded in 1998) and has grown rapidly following the merger with Deilir Technical Services, NDT ehf., and Vélar ehf. United under the name HD, we have become a strong and experienced service provider, today ranking among the largest companies in the country within our field.
HD now offers a wider range of products and services than ever before, including general steel and machine fabrication, technical condition analysis and continuous monitoring of machinery, design and construction of pump and piping systems, maintenance of geothermal turbines and generators, import and installation of equipment, spare parts procurement, and specialized technical services.
We have deep roots in the fishing industry and serve it at all stages of the value chain. Services to the aquaculture sector have increased significantly in recent years, with solutions that support this rapidly growing industry. One of HD’s largest service areas, however, is connected to power plants and heavy industry, where we provide regular maintenance of machinery and piping systems in power stations and utilities. We have also developed specialized services for carbon capture and other environmentally related industrial activities.
Each HD site specializes in a specific range of services and is equipped with the tools and facilities to support that specialization. Among other things, we operate a workshop dedicated to maintaining geothermal turbines, generators, and other key systems in the energy sector, as well as the largest hydraulic jack workshop in the country.
HD employs over two hundred people with diverse experience and specialized training in the inspection and maintenance of machinery and infrastructure.
We have expertise in the latest condition-monitoring technologies — including 3D scanning, continuous monitoring, and non-destructive testing (NDT) — enabling us to detect faults in machinery before they cause problems. This allows us to minimize downtime, extend the lifespan of equipment, and ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations for our clients.
