The year 2025 marked an important milestone in the history of HD ehf., as it was 30 years since the company installed its first deep well pump. Since then, HD has built up experience and unique expertise in the design, construction, installation, commissioning and maintenance of deep wells for geothermal systems \u2013 both in Iceland and internationally.<\/strong><\/p>

Over the last three decades, HD has been involved in the design, construction and operation of over 130 deep wells in Iceland, most of which are still in continuous operation. The pumps play a key role in Icelandic geothermal systems and are the backbone of district heating, power generation and energy security.<\/p>

Alongside projects in Iceland, HD has also established a strong international presence, with projects in Romania, Slovakia, Turkey, France, Hungary and China. The projects have involved both standalone deep-well pump installations and complete geothermal system and district heating solutions. In some cases, pump installations have reached depths of up to 350 metres, operating at temperatures of up to 170\u00b0C.<\/p>
